![]() She’s driven by guilt, yes, and perhaps a little by the need to prove herself to Geralt, but above all she’s driven by the certainty that Ciri is special, and she must protect her. More importantly, however, Yennefer isn’t just incapable of sacrificing Ciri, she goes a step further and makes a sacrifice that could have well come at the cost of her life, just to save the girl. When push comes to shove, she just cannot give Ciri up. In season 2, however, she gets to a point where she does it without thinking. We’ve seen her care for people before – she clearly cares about Geralt – but the one thing we’ve never seen her do is put someone else’s needs above her own. But it’s not because she sacrifices Ciri, but instead because she sacrifices for Ciri. And it is through Ciri and sacrifice that she ends up actually getting it back. SACRIFICEĪt first Yennefer seems wiling – and ready – to sacrifice Ciri to get her magic back. So, let’s go a little bit into what this relationship managed to become in so little time, what it can become going forward, and of course, how Yennefer is the final piece in the puzzle of the family Ciri never thought she would get. And though, in the end, Yennefer is incapable of betraying Ciri – and Geralt – the fact that she considered it is certainly something that will hang over their relationship in Season 3. ![]() The problem, of course, is that the Yennefer she first meets isn’t truly trustworthy. Considering what Ciri has heard of Yennefer and what Geralt feels about her, Ciri’s inclined to trust her from the get-go. She already had the opportunity to both earn and lose Ciri’s trust. However, Yennefer does have an advantage (or disadvantage) over Geralt at the end of season 1. Their relationship hasn’t had time to become much yet. In fact, it could be said the season ends – just as season 1 ended, with their story just getting started. We cannot wait to know whether Geralt and Yennefer’s fate will ever be entangled together, but it will be great to see Geralt’s emotional transformation. The Witcher season 2 didn’t spend a lot of time on the Ciri/Yennefer relationship. So many questions and theories will unfold in the drama season. Maybe this season, we will get to see how Yennefer will manipulate Geralt and regain her fertility which she had sacrificed to gain powers. The pair does have a mutual attraction towards one another but fortune would not let them be together. With Geralt saving her by making a wish, both of them are now magically bound together. She had gotten him under a spell by kissing him, but Geralt’s attachment towards her has saved her from dying in the hand of the djinn. The world of Witcher is uncertain and is based on survival of the fittest, and as we have seen in Season 1, Yennefer has had a fair share of manipulating Geralt. It is unlikely to see both Geralt and Yennefer as allies though they share a past together. The behavioural transformation of Geralt’s character will possibly lead him to be manipulated and corrupted by Yennefer for her own advantage. Well, this seems to be a quite tangled oxymoron for the Witcher!Ĭavill has hinted that his character will not lose his basic nature of killing monsters with gruffiness, but this time, Geralt will be more emotive.
